Generating network marketing leads is the easy part!
If you’ve read my blog, you may know that I’m not much of a fan of the network marketing gurus. I had always been of the opinion that the gurus got their money and then they used up their system.
They would continue to use their system until in wouldn’t work anymore or at least not as well as it did when they first started with it. It kind of makes sense, doesn’t it? Why would anyone want to share a great system with the world, when they can keep generating money for themselves. They could let their team in on it, but why tell the masses?
It was a few years ago and one of the gurus sold a product for $297.00. I heard that they did over $800,000 during the launch. Good for them, right? Well, a week later they sent out an email saying that the system didn’t work as well as it used to, because that marketplace was saturated. They grossed $800,000 selling a system that didn’t work as well as it used to. They knew it wouldn’t work as well, but they were willing to take the big payday.
That incident and a couple of other bad experiences and I learned not to like the gurus.
The funny things is that I’ll still listen to them, seeing if they have any useful information. I’d never buy a product from them, but why not take the chance that they let a gem slip slip out.
I was listening to a podcast, from one of the gurus and they said the most outlandish thing. I’ll paraphrase it. Getting leads is the easy part of network marketing.
I’m thinking, “Is this guy crazy?” Generating leads seems to be one of the biggest problems in network marketing. Everyone wishes that they had people to talk to. They could make a fortune, if they just had enough people to talk to.
I’ve been guilty of saying the same kinds of things, over the years. “If only … ”
There have been times when I really didn’t want to generate leads. I wouldn’t have known what to say to them anyway. How could I sell the products, if I didn’t know what to say. I found it to be very frustrating!
Back to what the guru said. It’s been about 5 months since I first them say that generating leads was the easy part of network marketing. Now, I must’ve heard them say it a dozen times. Up until last night I thought that they were totally off their rocker. Then it dawned on me. He’s actually right.
Generating leads is easy. It’s trying to generate free leads that seems to be the hard part!
Sure you have your warm market to work through and that’s free. What do you do after you’ve gone through them, a few times? We have to find another way to generate leads for ourselves.
Unfortunately, most people don’t seem to want to spend any money on their businesses. I guess they think that you don’t need to spend money to make money when they have a job, so why should they spend money to make money with a business.
Now if they would decide that it takes money to make money … in their business, they might find that they can generate leads for their business!
If you are willing to run an ad in a newspaper or somewhere else, you’ll find that you really can generate leads. They won’t be free, but you will find that generating leads is the easiest part of running a successful network marketing business.
If you want free leads to work with, talk to your warm market. If you want to make some money, invest a little money in an advertising campaign!
