Are you getting in your own way?

Network marketers arise and get out of the way!

get out of the way

There are only 2 types of people who stay in network marketing longer than a few months. The first are the people who joined so they can get the wholesale pricing for the products. They really like the products and just stay in the business for to make sure they get them at the lowest price possible. You’ll need a lot of these distributors/customers on your team if you want a to build a big business. Make sure that you don’t discount them. Then you have the rest who are still of the mind that they’d like to make money in the business.

Of those distributors, who still want to make money, you have 4 different kinds of people.

You have those distributors who are taking regular, consistent and effective actions over a long period of time. They are in the network marketing business for the long haul. They may not get rich, overnight, but don’t count them out. They’ll be around for years and it’s from those people that you’ll find the successful people. It may take them 2 or 3 years or maybe even 8 to 10 years, but sooner or later they will build the business that they’ve always wanted. They’ll never give up the fight.

Then you have those distributors who work the business sporadically, They don’t quit, but they have a difficult time maintaining any consistency. They are the ones who will always be making money, but they may never get rich.

The third kind of people are the ones who get started and then stop when they find out that it’s difficult. They may have talked to some of the people in their “warm market,” but didn’t have any luck or at least not much luck. They still want to make money, it’s just that they don’t really know how.

In the fourth group, you have all the people who want to make money, but they can’t seem to get out of their own way.

in network marketing

They may be perfectionists, they may have an overwhelming and paralyzing fear or maybe they don’t know what to do to get started.

Perfectionists

These people may have some ideas on what they’d like to do, but when they get ready to get started they decide that they can make things better and it’s for the best if they wait until things are just right. They work and re-work things until they … well, they never get started.

My suggestion for this is to stop where you are and live with what you have now. Then put it into practice. It might be good enough as it is now. Or it could need a bit of work. You should be able to tell where it needs work.

Fearful distributors

I believe that most people, who never get started, do that because they are afraid of something. More than likely it’s a fear of failure or fear of rejection. There are a lot of platitudes about this like, “Failure isn’t failing until you quit.” Then there are people who will tell you that rejection isn’t rejection. Your prospects aren’t rejecting you, personally, they are rejecting the idea of owning a business. While that may be true, trying to convince that kind of distributor that they aren’t being rejected, when someone tells them “No,” is nearly impossible. The average network marketer is going to take that rejection personally, almost every time.

I think that it takes a quantum leap in mindset changes to get to the point of hearing the word “No” and not taking it personally! It will probably take a year or two in psycho-therapy to get over that feeling.

If you want a quicker way to come to terms with the word “No,” I’d suggest talking to people and bringing a “wing man” with you. You want that person right next to you as you talk to prospects. They don’t have to say anything, they just need to be there for moral support. I don’t know why, but you will get a boost in confidence when you have a partner with you. If things don’t go well with that prospect and they say “No,” you’ll have someone there to help you get over that “rejection.”

The main thing for all network marketers is to get into action and learn from their mistakes. Make adjustments along the way and soon enough you’ll have something that works a certain percentage of the time. Once you get to that point, it’s just a matter of time until you find success in network marketing!
