Your warm market and network marketing
As soon as you join a network marketing company, they will tell you to make a list of your family, friends, co-workers and neighbors. This list of people will be designated as your “warm market.” In my opinion, your warm can serve a purpose, but it can be the place that a new distributor goes to “die.” By “die,” I mean getting laughed out of the business.
In today’s article, I’d like to go over one particular scenario.
Many people will tell you that they have no interest in network marketing because they just don’t know very many people. On the surface, this seems like a logical reason not to join. After all, a network marketer will need to go through a lot of people in order to find those few that will help them build a large business. If someone doesn’t know very many people, do you think they should join your business?
When a new distributor has a small pool of people to talk to, they will inevitably feel a sense of desperation. Everyone you talk to becomes important to the success of your business. Once a distributor feels desperate, they become emotionally invested in every decision. This position is a terrible place to try to build an organization.
Every time one of your small list says “No,” you feel like you are running out of time to be successful. It gets worse and worse as your warm market keeps telling you “No.”
Is there any thing that we can do to help with this problem?
There are two different things that can be done. The first is to build a bigger warm market. The problem with this is that if a person started out with a small warm market, they will probably have a problem adding people to their list.
The second thing that a person can do is to gain access to their warm market’s, warm market.
This is putting the networking in network marketing!
If a distributor has a warm market of 150 people, they will have problems going through enough people, because there just aren’t very many people on their list to talk to. However, if this distributor were to ask their warm market to look for people who would be interested in a business of their own, then the problem could be solved.
If your 150 person warm market list only knows 150 people each, how many people do they have access to now? That would give the distributor access to over 22,000 people. There will be many people who have a warm market of 500, 1000 or even 2000 people. That could keep the distributor busy for long time!
You may be thinking that no one could get access to everyone in a friend’s warm market. You might be right about that. If they can only speak with 1 in every 10 people in a warm market, that would still give them the ability to talk to 2,200 people.
If a distributor is able to talk to 2,200 people, that should put them well on their way to success in their network marketing business!
Use your warm market wisely! They can either be the death of a salesman or they could propel you to success!
