When you recruit someone into your business, you’ll want to get them started the right way. What is the right way? If you live near the new recruit, I would suggest meeting with them in person to go over how to get started, quickly. If not, you should set up a webinar to go over everything with them.
Typically, the person who has sponsored someone has no real idea of what to do. They grasp at straws and fall into the company line. They tell their new recruit to make a list of everyone they know. Does that sound familiar?
Keep in mind that a new recruit’s success or failure is, ultimately, up to them. However, we do have a responsibility to make sure that they have some idea of what to do and how to do it.
Here is my 6 point checklist to help you get your new recruits started properly.
Welcome them to the team
Everyone, who joins a network marketing company, has their own particular reason for why they signed up. One thing that they all all have in common is that they want to join a team. They wanted to be part of something that is bigger than themselves.
You should tell them what a great decision they made to be part of your team. Tell them everything that they can expect from you and the rest of your team.
While you are welcoming the new recruit to your team, you need to tell them how their are going to make money. This is the time to tell them about any “quick start bonuses” that they can qualify for. A lot of quick start bonuses are large enough to pay for most, if not all of a person’s enrollment fees. This is a great way to get people to believe in the business.
Also describe to them the types of activities that they will be doing in order to create a permanent income. They will, obviously, need to sell products and recruit people.
Website walk through
Now that we are well into the digital age, network marketers are getting their very own replicated websites and back offices for their businesses. You will be going over how to navigate their back office. They need to learn how to order products for themselves and their customers. They will need to know how to sign someone up through the site. They will need to know how to see their personal genealogy chart. If there is anything else that you think is important that they need to learn about your particular company’s website and back office, that’s time to go over it with them.
Planning their first event
Yes, I believe that every new person should be getting involved in their business by holding a grand opening party. This is a great way to get through your warm market, in a hurry. The best place to hold this first event is in the new recruit’s home. You get home field advantage and your warm market is more likely to show up at their home, than a neutral place. The new recruit is creating momentum and a little “buzz” amongst their friends and family.
Announcing your new business to the world
How do you make an announcement to the world? Social media. Make a short video of the new recruit announcing their new business and put it on Facebook, YouTube and Google +. They can also take pictures of them self holding their distributor kit and each of the products. Post them to Pintrest and tweet them out on Twitter.
Setting up a daily routine
Once a new recruit has held their grand opening event, they will need to keep the momentum going. This is where you need to help them to develop a plan of action. What will they need to do each and every day? If you don’t give them something to do, you run the risk of them not doing anything!
Training and meetings
This is where the rubber meets the road. As a sponsor, you need to teach new recruits the skills that they will need to be successful in network marketing. If you, as the sponsor, don’t have the skills then you will need to go out and learn them.
We are in the “decision collecting” business. All network marketers need to know how to move from the initial contact all the way through the sign up process. Learn the skills for each step in that process and teach others how to do it.
I would suggest holding weekly training meeting. You can do this through a webinar, if you have anything visual to show, or find a free conference calling website and hold your meetings over the phone. Skype is a good place to start.
Use these meetings for training and to discuss any specific problem someone is having. Allow your teammates to share their experiences that they are having in the business. You never know when someone just got shot down by someone that is close to them and they are now thinking of quitting the business. Giving them a forum to talk to people who are and have gone through the same thing can help you retain more distributors.
Teach your team to get all their new recruits started this same way. It will save you a lot of time and grief!
