“Hey Buddy, can you help me start a business?
Has anyone ever approached you and asked you, “Can you help me start a
business?” Probably not. I’ve been in business for 27 years and never has anyone asked me that.
That’s probably because most people have no real interest in starting a business of their own. I can speak from experience, that it is a different kind of life. It’s not 9-5. No clock to punch. No boss. No one to tell you what to do. No one to help you along the way. No one to cover for you if you make a mistake. The list goes on and on.
Of course I think that people who have jobs are crazy. They get up way too
early to go to a job that they probably don’t like. They answer to someone who
they probably don’t respect. They have to do what everyone who is above says
to do. They do all that for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. Add in 2 hours of
commuting and there you have it. They work for 40 maybe 50 years to make
someone else wealthy and the get to live their lives in 3 or 4 hours per day
and a weekend.
Job holders miss so much of life. Maybe they have no choice but to be out of
town for work and they miss the birth of a child. They might miss their child’s first step. Or first word. Maybe their child is the star of the school play and they have to work late. It’s such a hit or miss kind of life.
Do you have a job? What have you had to sacrifice? What have you missed?
Of course my friends with jobs think I’m crazy.
But I’ve never missed the birth of a child. I was their for every first word, first step and school play. I’ve been to every birthday party. I haven’t missed much.
So who’s the crazy one?
Being self employed is an adventure. Sometimes it’s easy so times, not so much. But it is never boring!
Help me start a business are words that you probably will never hear. If you
want to build a business you will need to approach people and tell them that
you will be there to help them start their business.
You’ll need to know why the person wants to be in a business. Maybe they have grandiose dreams. Or maybe they just don’t want to miss anything else in their lives. The deeper felt the dream, the more likely they will join you and be
If you ever hear help me start a business, you know you of someone good.
They’ve probably already thought it through and have made up their minds to go into a business. Obviously, these types of people are the best prospects.
Wouldn’t it be great if everyone who wanted to be in a business had a neon sign
around their neck and it was flashing:
HELP ME START A BUSINESS!
This is the job of your marketing and advertising. You want people to let you
know that they are interested in a business of their own. Once they have raised their hands and shown an interest in what you have to offer, you need to sell them on you.
You are the solver of their problems! You need to show them that not only do
you know what to do in order to build a successful business but that you will
be more than happy to share the system with them.
This is the key to long term success. People need to know that there is a simple system to follow and that they will have help in implementing the plan.
If they feel like you are only their to use them to make money off of they will
never join you.
You do not need to sell them on your company, or their products or the company’s compensation plan. None of that matters at all. All in all, most network marketing companies offer about the same thing. A good reputation,
good products and a decent compensation plan.
What most people are asking for when they ask, “Can you help me start a business?” is, will you HELP ME!
Be the problem solver they need. Be there for them. Show them the way and
lead them to success!
