Which type of network marketer are you?

3 types of people in network marketing

Network marketing is a strange business. Like they say, it takes all types. We certainly do get all types in this business. I’ve talked to a bunch of fellow network marketers, over the years and they seem to have the same complaints. They can’t recruit anyone, they recruit people who quit in their first month or they recruit people who need so much hand holding, it’s hardly worth the bother.

I’ve given this a lot of thought in the past few days and I think I see a pattern. There seems to be 3 types of people in network marketing.

The first type of person is the most common. They are the ones who join a company and do nothing or next to nothing. They probably had great dreams for their business, but when push comes to shove, they either don’t know what to do or they don’t want to do the work that is required. Maybe they talked to a few close friends about their business or products … and scared them away. Not knowing what to do has a way of making people very scary! Now you might be thinking that if those people had the proper training they would have made it in this business. I’m going to say, probably not. You might remember that study that network marketers love to toss around. The one that says that most people die broke. Well, those people are the ones who join network marketing and do next to nothing with it.

These people may be the ones that need you to hold there hand every step of the way. It’s so frustrating when you spend that much time helping them and they end up quitting.

I hate to say it, but there are a certain percentage of people out there that nothing is going to help them to avoid being broke when they die.

The second type of person who is in network marketing is the type that does a little bit with the business. You need a lot of these kinds of people in your organization. They pump up your volume and help you to get bigger and bigger checks each month. They are the people who have a nice little side business and make $200 maybe $300 per month.

The thing that most of their sponsors don’t know is that these people have the seeds of greatness within them. With help and the proper training, some of them could build sizable businesses. They are the ones that could make it to the top levels of the business, if they get the right help.

They may be insecure and not want to accept that they could make it to the big time. You will need to encourage them, constantly. If properly nurtured, these people can and will build big businesses!

The last kind of person who joins network marketing are the go-getters. These people hit the ground running and never look back. They were made for business and it shows. They build their businesses with or with out any help and most of the time they don’t want or need anyone to get in they way to the top.

Everyone wants to find those people in the third category. I can’t say that I blame them. Who wouldn’t want to find a home run hitter? The problem is that they are few and far between. They might be less than 1% of the population. You might find one, but what are the odds of that?

The people who are in the second category are about 20% to 30% of the population. They are much easier to find. Remember, they are the ones who just need the proper training and they could take off.

Now you have to ask yourself two questions. Which category are you in and which kind of people are you going to actively pursue to recruit into your business?
