It’s all about you, isn’t it?
Are you looking out for #1? Do you take care of you and yours? I can’t say that I blame you. We’ve all been taught that there are no free lunches and if you want something you need to go out and get it. It’s a dog eat dog world, right?
Unfortunately, words like selfish, self absorbed and self serving come to my mind. You have to take care of yourself and your family, but there are times when it’s not the best thing for anyone. Before you get your knickers in a bunch, I’m not advocating that you sit around and wait for someone to take care of you. We both know that’s never going to happen.
When is it a bad time to only be thinking of yourself?
If you happen to be a network marketer and you are only thinking of yourself and taking care of yourself, you will surely fail. Network marketing is strange that way. This is a business that you can’t be successful in all by yourself. You can’t sell your way to the top and you can’t sponsor your way to the top, either.
You’re going to need other people to help you to get to the top of any network marketing company. That’s just the way it is.
You can sponsor all the people in the world and if they don’t do anything with the business, you won’t succeed. You can also sell a ton of products, but this won’t get you anything more than a decent payday. You’re going to need a balance of sponsoring people and selling the products. You’ll also need the people that you sponsored to do the same thing, sell the products and recruit others into the business. This is a team sport!
What’s a good plan of action to get to the top?
The good thing about network marketing is that it is a simple business. The bad thing about network marketing is that everyone wants to over complicate it. The first thing that a network marketer needs to do is to get themselves into profit. Having income is different from being in profit. You need to add up everything that you spend money on for your business and subtract that from all the income that you had, for the month. If you have leftover money, then you are in profit.
The quickest and easiest way to do this is to figure out how many customers you need per month to pay all of your expenses and then go get them. You can ask all of your friends and family to buy a product from you to show their support. Once you’ve established a customer base of your friends and family members, you can ask them to host a product demonstration party. You can compensate them be giving them free products. You might be saying that your company isn’t a party plan company. To that I say, who cares. You want to sell the products, don’t you? What better way than to have a dozen people in a home watching you demonstrating how well your products work?
The goal is to have about $500.00 of profit each month. When you reach that goal, you’ll be able to pay for some advertising and find more customers and you can now look for other people to be distributors. You can also ask all of your happy customers if they would like to get a decent discount on the products and recruit them as well.
Then you can teach those new recruits to do the exact same thing that you just did. Once you have an organization of distributors who are all doing the same things, then you have a chance to reach the top levels of your company’s pay plan.
You won’t reach the top of any company unless you have a group of people all helping each other. Network marketing is kind of brilliant in its simplicity!
