Goal setting 101
It’s nice to do goal setting. It gives you a target to aim at, but it’s not the end of the story. Everyone who joins a network marketing company has a goal in mind, when they first start out. Maybe their goal is to make $100,000.00 per year. Maybe it’s to make an extra $500.00 per month to help pay the bills.
I can remember cutting out pictures from magazines and taping them to my bathroom mirror. How many of you have done that? While keeping your goals, dreams and desires in the forefront of your mind is a really good idea, having a plan of action is more important. This is because goal setting is just that, goal setting. What we need to do is to be able to achieve those goals.
Control what you can
There aren’t too many things in life that we can control. Yet, every day we wake up and live our lives. Why would we do that when there are so many things that are out of our control? I think that most of us have the illusion of being in control.
Unfortunately, we’re only in control of what we do, what we say and how we react to things. After that, we just have to live with whatever happens. Since we can’t control the outcome of any situation, doesn’t it stand to reason that we should let whatever is going to happen, happen? Should we tie our emotions to the outcome of any situation? We can control what we say, what we do and how we react to a situation, but after that we just have to live with it.
After we have set our goals, the first thing that we need to do is take some sort of action. The best way to get to your goals is to break down your goals into small action steps. If you ultimate goal is to make $100,000.00 per year, then you need to do what company tells you that you need to do in order to reach that goal.
You’ll need to recruit a lot of people and have some of them recruit a lot of people. Along the way, you and your organization will need to sell some products. Once you do all of that, you’ll be making that $100,000.00.
All of this starts with recruiting a single person. You’ll need to figure out how to do that. You’ll have to show the business plan to a certain number of people and hopefully one of them will join. Once you have that number you will know how much work you will need to do. Statistically speaking.
Goal setting 201
Goal setting isn’t about getting the nice car or a new house. It’s about getting certain activities done each day. If it takes you showing the business plan 15 times to recruit 1 person then you should set your goals to give the business plan 15 times per week or what ever you decide to do.
If you do enough of the right activities, you can hardly help being successful in this business.
Two last things. I would say don’t overwhelm yourself, in the beginning. If you need to show 15 plans to recruit someone, then allow yourself 2 weeks to show those 15 plans. As you get used to doing the work you’ll probably want to expand how much you do. The last is that every time you achieve your activities goal, reward yourself. Do something that you enjoy. You’re worth it!
