What is success in network marketing?

How long should it take? It depends on how you define success in network marketing. Success can mean different things to different people. How do you define it?

There are 6 different kinds of people who are involved with network marketing.

The socialites

The do nothings

The wholesale product buyers

The dabblers

The money makers

The business builders

Each one of these has a different definition of success. Let’s take a look at each and see what their definition is and how long they can expect it to take to reach that success.

The socialites

These are the people who join in order to make friends. They enjoy the camaraderie and they seek out new people to socialize with.

They are probably the type that makes friends easily and they can expect to make friends right away.

The do nothings

As the name says, they do nothing in the business. They probably joined on the remote possibility that the 1 or 2 people that they are willing to tell about their business, will join. They roll the dice when they join and whatever happens, happens. If their best friend joins them, then they will stick around, but more than likely their best friend will shoot them down. They’ll hear, “It’s a pyramid scheme” and they will tuck tail and run! They are the hopers and wild eyed dreamers of the world.

They can expect to find their “success” in 90 days or less.

The wholesale product buyers

These people may be converted “do nothings” or they can be people who really, really like the products and want to get the best price that they get. You’ll need a lot of wholesale product buyers on your team, if you want to make a lot of money! Don’t turn your nose up to them.

These people may start out at their goals, if they joined for the lower prices. If they are converted do nothings, it may take a bit longer. They should count on 90 days or less.

The dabblers

These are distributors who play at having a business. It’s not a game, but they treated like it is. They will work the business when they feel like it. I call them the “some time workers.” They don’t do it enough to be called part time.

They too, will reach their goals in 90 days or less. They may hang on for months or even years and never quit. If you have enough of them on your team, they might make you rich, so they are really good to have on your team. They help maintain your monthly volume.

The money makers

The money makers, do just that, they make money. Maybe they joined to make an extra $500.00 per month or maybe they thought that they’d make a fortune, but they never got there. Either way, they are the 3% who are always going to be around and making some money every month. These are excellent people to have on your team. You can hold them up as success stories to your prospects. It’s a very believable story to have someone making $500.00 a month.

Money makers may make some money right away, by selling the products. Or they may take a year or two to build up to their desired income.

The business builders

The business builders are the rarest of breeds. They are the less than 1% that everyone is looking for. They will reach the top of your company’s pay plan. It’s just a matter of time. They usually won’t wait for any training. They come crashing right out of the gates.

Some of them might be able to reach the top levels in 6 to 18 months, some take as long as 2-3 years, but more than likely, they will reach the top in 5-10 years.

How long does it take to find success in network marketing? It all depends on how you define success and which of these categories do you fall into. Are you willing to commit to how ever long it takes to get to your goals?
