Is network marketing a get rich quick scheme?

Did you say, get rich quick?

can you get rich quick in network marketing?

Network marketing is not a get rich quick business. If you are thinking that you will be a millionaire in a year, you’d better think again. I know that there are a few exceptional stories out there. Those rare cases where someone put the pedal to the metal and struck it big. Finding a way of earning five figures per month and retiring early, doesn’t happen very often.

Now that I’ve smashed your dreams, it’s time to get to work. Roll up your sleeves and develop a plan of action!

One thing that you need to keep in mind, as you move forward, is that most people that you are recruiting are going to fail. Sorry to burst your bubble again. It’s sad but, it’s true. In fact, it gets worse. Most people you recruit will lose money, while running their business.

My personal goal is that 1% of my group will make it to the top of the compensation plan. That doesn’t sound like much does it? If I can pull that off, it will be nothing short of a miracle. The network marketing industry admits to about 1 in 600 making it to the top of any company’s compensation plan. My guess is that it’s not that high. It’s probably more like 1 in 6,000.

It’s a wonder anyone even wants to try this business!

get rich quick? no way

Okay, I’m better now.

Can you get rich quick?

There are 4 different ways to get involved with any network marketing company. If you’re being recruited, you’ll need to decide which of the four ways best suits you.

None of them are, necessarily, better than another. It is all up to you and your personality. It depends on what your personal goals are.

The first way to be involved with a network marketing company is to be a customer. You really like the products and they work for you. That’s great! Be a customer for life. You’ll be helping someone qualify for the company’s bonuses.

The second way to be involved in the business is to join and get the products at the best possible price. You’ll be able to buy the products at “wholesale prices.” Well, the prices are better than retail, if not at true wholesale prices.

The next way to be involved is to be a casual distributor. You’ve signed up because you really like the products. You think that others would like them just as much as you do. Why not make a few extra dollars each month recommending the products to family and friends.

The last way that someone can decide to get involved in your business is to be a business builder. Those few that will actually want to go for the brass ring. Those that want something different in their lives. Those that will, at least, try to recruit a lot of people.

I can almost guarantee that 80% or more of the people that actually join you in the business will either be people who want the lowest price on the products or those that will only recommend the product to a few people. Don’t be too disappointed when the number is higher than that. Perhaps, it could even be 90%.

Why would anyone want to recruit people if 9 out of 10 of them won’t do much with the business?

get rich quick or get rich slow

The fact of the matter is this. You only need 1 out of every 10 to be true business builders to make you rich. I know you probably don’t believe me. Ask around in your company’s top earners and find out how many people that they needed to recruit to get to the top of the compensation plan. Most of the top earners I’ve talked to have said that it took between 20 and 25 recruits to make it to the top level.

It’s your job to identify the 1 or 2 people who will be the business builders!  Not to get rich quick.
