We can look at any network marketing company and find people who are making money. We can see that there are people who have reached the top level of the compensation plan. We know network marketing can and does work!

 

I guess the real question is will network marketing work … for you? Everyone who sees a business presentation has to ask themselves that question. They want to know, “Will this work for me?” It would seem that everyone who joins a network marketing business must think that they can make this work for them. The bad news is that most people are wrong.

 

When you saw your company’s compensation plan you saw something that will never happen. All compensation plans are shown in “a perfect world.” It shows that everyone joins, everyone sells enough of the products to qualify every month and it shows that everyone will work the business and recruit other people who will do all of this for themselves. You’ve probably heard something like, “you-me-6-4-3.” If the “me” in there recruits 6 people into their business and those 6 people recruit 4 people and those 4 people recruit 3 people, then you’ll reach the top level of the compensation plan.

 

What they won’t tell you is that this isn’t a perfect world and not everyone signs up. In order to get those 6 people who will recruit 4 people, you’ll probably have to recruit 100 or maybe even 200 people. It goes like that all the way down the line.

 

That’s the cold, hard truth that slaps the average network marketer in the face as they get started in their business. When the average network marketer wakes up and smells the coffee, they have no idea how they would ever sponsor 200 people into their business. With this reality staring them in the face, they will usually quit.

 

Most network marketers who join a business are in need of money. They need money, NOW! They want to quit the job that they hate, NOW! If they can’t get those things, NOW, they lose the hope that made them join in the first place.

All of that may sound like bad news, but it’s not.

 

Yes, the average distributor will be out of business in 90 days or maybe they make it 120 days or so. That doesn’t mean that it will happen to you. All you need to do is to change your, “I have to have this NOW,” attitude to a more realistic attitude of, “I’m willing to do the work that is required to make it to the top level of the compensation plan.”

 

If you’ll give your business the effort and the time necessary, you can build the kind of business that you want. It could take you about 4 years to recruit 200 people if you’re recruiting just 1 person per week. I know that 4 years sounds like a long time, but if you don’t invest 4 years into your business how else are you going to ever make the kind of money that you need in order to quit that job you hate? It won’t be on your job. You know that they will never pay you enough to leave.

 

The fact that the average network marketer is doing nothing or next to nothing is good for you as well. That means that there is a lot less competition out there. Out of every 100 network marketers, there are probably close to 97 of them who aren’t doing much of anything.

 

Okay, so there’s two types of network marketers in this world, the kind that has to have the big bucks NOW and when it doesn’t happen, they quit and those that are willing to make a commitment to themselves and their business and are willing to do whatever it takes to get to the top.

 

The question isn’t whether network marketing can work, it’s which of the 2 types of network marketers will you be?
