Article marketing tips
Let’s start with a quick definition of what article marketing is.
Article marketing is a way to promote one’s business, product, service, blog or website by publishing useful, helpful and interesting content in the form of written articles.
Here is Wikipedia.com’s definition. Article Marketing.
Article marketing is a marketing strategy that has been successfully used on the internet, for years. It is used because it is easy to do and can be a very successful way to market things.
Article marketing tips for the rest of us
Most of us never attended journalism school or taken a single journalism class, for that matter.
Regardless of your writing experience, it is possible to use this strategy effectively. This article offers a variety of tips for developing an article marketing strategy for your business. Hopefully, the tips here will allow you to make this strategy work for you.
First and foremost, write articles that are unique. Put your “spin” or your “take” on what ever subject you are writing about. Your readers want to get to know you and what you are thinking. Not some rehash of someone else’s thoughts and ideas.
Article marketing tips and keywords
I would suggest that you write your articles about high searched, low competition keywords. You should be writing for keywords about 75% of the time, perhaps slightly more than that. You do this to get noticed by the search engines and hopefully, to get ranked on the first page of those search engines.
It’s nice to write for the reader’s enjoyment and education but, somewhere along the line you need to get ranked in the search engines if you want to drive those readers to your articles.
Your content should inform and entertain the reader. Always write informally and in a friendly manner. While the most technical of topics may seem formal, they’ll actually be more effective if they are not written that way. If your readers don’t like or understand your article, they probably won’t come back to your site.
Article marketing tips and your content
The material that you choose to write should be “evergreen.” Evergreen means that they will have relevance for years after they are written. Don’t write about topics that are only useful right now. That being said, you can write about current issues in your chosen market. Obviously, you can’t know what current trends will be relevant a year from now.
Ideally, you want readers to be able to be engaged even if they look at articles that you have written years ago. If you can produce content that keeps readers interested long after you have published it, there is a greater possibility that they will be interested in your fresh content as well.
The headline of your article should contain your keyword. It should be somewhere between interesting and sensational. Not too “hypey” but, it should make the reader want to read the article itself.
Your first paragraph should be your best. Both, the search engines and your readers will judge your article on its first paragraph. If you include some great information in the opening paragraph. This will get the readers’ attention and it also entices them to keep reading. You don’t want to offer too much too soon. You want them to read the entire article too.
Article marketing tips and your website
If you are running a blog or website, I would suggest that you write your own articles or find someone who writes that exact way that you would. This will be your “original article.”
The next step in article marketing is to write “secondary articles.” These types of articles will be written for the same keyword or keywords that are related to your “original article” keyword. You will want these“secondary articles” to be as different from your “original article” as you can possibly make it. This is why it is a good idea to outsource these articles.
Article marketing tips and backlinking
You are going to use the “secondary articles” for mass distribution.
Find a “content spinner” that you like. You will need to rewrite your “secondary articles” in order to “spin” them. I would suggest rewriting each sentence one or two times. When you “spin” the article, you should get hundreds or even thousands of articles that will make sense to a human reader.
You can submit these “spun” articles to blog networks or article directories. Articles on article directories do not rank very well in the search engines. Thanks to the black and white updates! Placing your articles on these sites does help you though. They are usually “authority” sites with high page rank. Suffice it to say that links coming from “authority site with high page rank are still good and useful links!
One of the best places to advertise the fact that you have written a new article is on social media sites. Take advantage of your Facebook and your Twitter accounts. They can be very good ways to attract new readers.
I hope these article marketing tips will help you to rank in the search engines and get the traffic that you need to be successful!
