Mama said there’d be days like this
Every once in a while, things just get on my nerves. Yesterday was one of those days.
The weather forecast said rain, sleet and snow. Possibly even freezing rain. Not a good way to start the day. I decided to go to the local grocery store and pick up some food for lunch and dinner, just in case it got really bad. I guess everyone else in the area had been there the day before.
I’m not one of those people who panics when the forecast is gloomy like that. I didn’t go for bread, milk and toilet paper, like all of those other people. I just hadn’t been to the grocery store in a while and we needed food.
I started shopping and found myself at the deli. I ordered two thing. A pound of baked turkey and a pound of American cheese. I thought my 11 year old might want a turkey club sandwich. I’m watching the ladies cut the turkey. Slice, slice slice. She weighed it. It was close enough to a pound to have her bag it up.
Now maybe it’s me but, what happened next just turned my stomach. She grabbed the little plastic bag. She tried to open it and was having problems. She gets it to open a fraction and she looks down and blows in the bag to open it all the way. She places the turkey in the bag, closes it and then hands it to me.
I’m in shock. She just blew in the bag and put food in it. To me, it was the grossest thing I’d seen in a while. The grossest thing since the last time I was at this particular store. The last time I was there, the cashier licked her fingers while checking me food through the scanner.
That grossed me out as well. At least the food was in the packaging. Still, she licked her fingers. Yuck!
Needless to say, I walked out of the store without any of the food that we needed. I’ll never shop there again.
Is it just me or do you think that was gross to blow in the bag before putting the turkey in it?
I’m very surprised that you’re still reading this post!
I actually was going to write about another happening today but, the grocery store incident was bugging me too much. The other incident? It wasn’t really an incident.
Let me know what you think about this … if you’re still reading.
I got two emails from people that didn’t know from Adam. Both emails were written in order to try to recruit me into the sender’s network marketing company. They hadn’t scrapped my email address. I was asked to connect with them on one of the social media sites.
I didn’t know them but, I accepted the invitation. They emailed me right after I accepted. “Hi, would you like to join my MLM?” I was like, “You gotta be kidding me.” I never responded to their emails. I probably should’ve and asked them to join my MLM. That actually would’ve been funny.
My question is this, does that kind of unsolicited invitation to join an MLM company really work for anyone? I just laughed at the method but, I’m willing to be schooled in this method, if it works.
That’s enough of my whining for one day.
It was just one of those days.
