I know. I know. I know! Personal development. Ugh! Who wants to do that, anyway? I mean, what’s wrong with me? I think I’m a pretty good person. I have friends … lots of friends. How bad off could I be?

Self improvement and personal development are such slow processes. Who has the time? You have to read all of those books and listen to all of the CDs. Then you might see some sort of very slow changes happening.

There are lots of reasons for you to go through this process. I’ll be discussing 2 of the main reasons that you should start your personal development program, now!

The first reason and this is the #2 reason that you should do personal development is because the way you see yourself will determine your income and success level in anything that you do. You will only achieve to the level that your self esteem will allow you to succeed. It’s very difficult for someone with low self esteem to achieve big things. It’s not impossible, but it is hard.

It is difficult for low self esteem people to try new things and take risks. They don’t have a high enough belief in themselves or their own abilities. They usually sit on the sidelines and watch life go by and watch others find success.

A person’s self worth will determine how much money they will make, on average. You will find that, over time, people will earn as much money as they think they are worth. Even if you give someone with low self worth $1,000,000 they will soon be back where they started. If they don’t think that they are worthy of a million dollar lifestyle, they will find themselves right back in their old lifestyle.

If you want to achieve success, have a higher income and enjoy the lifestyle that goes with it, you must begin a diligent personal development program as soon as possible.

Now, the #1 reason that network marketers must do personal development …

As a small business owner, you will find that you attract people who are like you. You will also notice that you will find people who are like you are more attractive. What does that mean?

You may have noticed that employees are usually a reflection of the owner of the business or at least the person who hired them. They may look alike, act alike, dress alike or think alike, but they will all be similar in some way. It’s true what they say, birds of a feather do flock together.

If a business owner has glasses and a pocket protector, they are likely to hire someone who wears glasses and has a pocket protector. They aren’t very likely to hire someone with a ponytail and tattoos.

As a network marketer you will probably try to recruit people who are like you. Now you have to look at yourself and decide if you would want to recruit 10 people who are like you. Could you build a big business around 10 people who are like you?

If you are a high self esteem, high self worth person who is a go getter with high energy, then you probably would love to recruit 10 people like you. If you’re not in that category, then you’d have to think twice before you find people that are like you.

Most people don’t have high self esteem or self worth and they recruit people who at their level or lower. There’s nothing wrong with any of you, but it will make it more difficult to build a big business. It is so much more difficult that most people quit the business. If they worked on themselves they would eventually recruit people who are like they are then. They will continually improve and they will be able to find and recruit better people into their business.

Most network marketers don’t give themselves enough time to improve. They need to raise their self esteem, their self worth and their skills in order to be successful in this business.

Most people enter the business thinking that there are okay and don’t need to work on themselves. This is probably one of the main reasons that network marketers fail to succeed.
